THE CLIENT
DodgersMuse, @LADodgersMuse on X, is a fan page and stat updater for the Major League Baseball team known as the Los Angeles Dodgers.  They are an official affiliate for the much larger sports media company known as StatMuse. The page has over 14k followers on X and have multiple sponsorships such as SeatGeek.
THE JOB
With the MLB season kicking off, DodgersMuse felt that it was a good time to invest in a personalized graphic package to supplement their quickly growing page. They reached out to me to commission me to create a Starting Lineup Card and a Victory graphic. They had a few key wants and needs which includes the graphics being blank, for them to include small hits of red, and for them to be completely imageless. They wanted them to be cohesive and informative, yet simple and easily editable for them to prioritize their statistical focus and page consistency.
THE LINEUP CARD
The finished product for the lineup cards come in a set of 4; one for every uniform the Dodgers wear that directly matches the chest mark and color of each jersey. They include the batting order, player position, date, time, current record, current seed, and the game number out of 162. Highly informative, yet simple, as the client requested.
THE DILEMMA
During the creative process, I struggled to create a graphic that was attractive and social media friendly while also not including any images, per request. I also had to keep the typefaces at a minimum while also being accessible types that the client would have on every device already. I noticed that MLB design teams heavily rely on images to fill the page on a simple graphic like this so I had to work outside the box. I landed on the Uniform inclusion to help give every graphic a fresh feeling while also informing viewers of what uniform to expect. The client absolutely loved the uniform inclusion and felt that all of their needs were met.

Final outcome for the Victory Graphic. Includes the same uniform matching as the lineup card so both sets work with consistency and function easily for the client.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Creating the victory graphic after encountering some of the issues I had with the lineup card definitely made it easier to navigate, but each project comes with their own struggles. Vectorizing all 29 other MLB teams and making them all the same, consistent style was difficult in particular, but I face the biggest challenge when it came to making these assets easily editable and accessible for the client.
We worked together and utilized Canva, a free web program thats known for being user-friendly,  in the post completion of the graphic and used it as the staging zone for the client. Every asset was added to the file and all the client has to do is turn on the layer with the team logo they wanted and edit the text boxes for the correct information, and their graphic was ready for post. This same approach was used on the lineup card and the client was very happy with how quickly they could access and edit each graphic.
